Academy Football Skills Training

The AJFC Academy Football Skills training program for the upcoming 2026 season maintains its focus on the continued development of our Academy team players with some changes. Skills training will continue to focus on the development of the four core football skills – Striking the Ball, Running with the Ball, First Touch and 1v1. The program will offer a 14-week term of 1 hour training sessions to be conducted weekly with breaks for school holidays. Training sessions will involve high repetition skill exercises ensuring participants maximise their touches and involvement with the football.

The training program features separate sessions for Mixed (Boys) and Girls covering our Under 8 to Under 13 teams. Sessions will see players graded by skill ability into smaller groups for skill exercises to ensure that players are being challenged at their personal skill level. Priority positions (and spaces) are offered to all Academy players who wish to participate. In 2026, training will be offered to all Under 8 to Under 13 age groups where space permits, subject to their registration and payment of associated fees.
