Development of a Campbell Park and Lysaght Park Masterplan

Field 3 at Campbell Park, Chiswick

Abbotsford Juniors Football Club is pleased to announce that the City of Canada Bay Council has commenced a process for the development of Campbell Park and Lysaght Park Masterplan that will guide Council’s future upgrades to AJFC’s home fields for the next 10 years to ensure that they continue to meet community needs. A key part of Council’s process for the development of a master plan is the conduct of community consultation on the public’s use and access to the parks.

The community consultation process presents a clear opportunity for the public to provide input into how the parks and facilities can be improved to best serve the needs of the local community now and into the future. As key users and stakeholders of both parks, we believe it is important that AJFC members have the opportunity to have their say about the future of the parks.

Options for Providing Feedback

Members and the general public can provide feedback online via the Council website (using the link above).

Feedback can also be given in person, at one of the feedback sessions Council staff will conduct at the following venues, dates and times:

  • Community Fun Day at Drummoyne Oval (Sunday 8 June from 1pm to 5pm)
  • Campbell Park Community Room (Tuesday 10 June from 4pm to 6pm)
  • Lysaght Park (Saturday 14 June from 7:00am to 9:30am)

What does Abbotsford Juniors Football Club want to see delivered in a Masterplan for Campbell Park and Lysaght Park?

The Club has identified several key improvements that it would like to see delivered and incorporated in a Campbell Park and Lysaght Park Masterplan.

  1. AJFC believes that the delivery of one or more all weather fields at Campbell Park are needed to support the continued demand and growth for football.
  2. It has been 15 years (2010) since Campbell Park fields had significant maintenance (top dressing, levelling and re-turfing) completed.  AJFC believes that the remediation of the existing turf field surfaces is urgently required to address issues of sinkage and drainage.
  3. AJFC believes that the remediation of the existing crossing between Campbell Park and Lysaght Park by creating a raised crossing point with improved drainage is urgently required to address the current significant safety issues resulting from a lack of drainage during the winter period.
  4. AJFC is asking for additional permanent secure storage for more wheeled football goals for Campbell Park and Lysaght Park to make it easier and safer for members and club officials to setup and pack up fields.

The Club hopes that all members take advantage of this once in a decade opportunity to have their say about the future of AJFC’s home fields to the benefit of all our members and the wider Canada Bay community at large.

Should you have any further questions around the process, please feel free to email the Club at info@abbotsfordjuniorsfc.com.au or reach out to a Committee Member for a conversation.
